Perhaps the key momentum in Thursday’s 7th District championship game came with just over a minute to play.
Madisonville-North Hopkins led 61-60, but Dawson Springs had the ball with a chance to take the lead.
However, a mad scramble on a rebound saw the ball end up in the hands of the Maroons’ Kanyon Johnson, who sprinted to the other end for a dunk with 1:06 to play.
Madisonville went on to claim a 70-61 victory and its 16th straight district championship.
