The question going into the girls’ 2nd Region tournament is can anyone stop the run of the Henderson County Lady Colonels at the top of the region. The path to Rupp Arena in 2025 is now set following Saturday morning’s regional draw.

Henderson has won the last six titles and all but one since 2013. The only team to interrupt that run was another 6th District team, the Webster County Lady Trojans, who took the title in 2018.

The last team other than those two to make a trip to the Sweet 16 was the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers in 2012.

The 2025 tournament is being played at Christian County High School and will get underway with two games Monday night.

The first game Monday night at 6:00 will find Henderson County taking on Lyon County.

Henderson County (24-5) is the 6th District champion. The Lady Colonels have won 9 of their last 10 games with the only loss in that stretch coming to Owensboro Catholic. Christian County and Crittenden County are the only region teams to come within 10 points or fewer against Henderson. Christian County lost by seven and a short-handed Lady Rockets team fell by 10.

Lyon County (21-9) could be the toughest draw for a district champion. The Lady Lyons are the runners-up in the 5th District after losing to the Crittenden County Lady Rockets for the third time this season. Lyon County opened the season 14-1.

Henderson County and Lyon County met on February 1 with the Lady Colonels taking a 66-49 win on their home floor.

The 7:30 game Monday night will have Hopkins County Central matching up against Hopkinsville.

Hopkins County Central (19-13) won the 7th District title. The Lady Storm enter the regional on a five-game winning streak and having won six of the last seven games. The Lady Storm made a postseason run in 2024, reaching the regional championship game.

The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers (10-12) finished as runner-up in the 8th District, losing to Christian County in the title game. The Lady Tigers won two of their last three, including a big comeback win on the road at Todd County Central.

The Lady Storm and the Lady Tigers played January 18 in Hopkinsville with the Lady Tiger coming away with a 68-53 win.

Action resumes Tuesday night at 6:00 at Christian County High School. The first game of the night will have Christian County going up against Madisonville-North Hopkins.

The Christian County Lady Colonels (19-7) head into the week as the champions of the 8th District. The Lady Colonels have won 8 of their last 9 with the only loss coming on the road at 7th District champion Hopkins County Central.

Madisonville-North Hopkins (15-10) starts the week as the runner-up out of the 7th District. The Lady Maroons won three of their last five with the losses coming to Daviess County and Hopkins County Central in the 7th District championship game.

The Lady Colonels and the Lady Maroons met in the second week of the season with Christian County taking a 68-44 win in Madisonville.

The final first round game Tuesday night will have the Crittenden County Lady Rockets taking on their Ohio River county neighbors, the Union County Bravettes.

Crittenden County (21-7) comes in as the champion out of the 5th District. The Lady Rockets were the All A regional champions and reached the Final Four of the All A Classic state tournament. Crittenden County has won four of its last six games.

Union County (16-11) is the runner-up out of the 6th District. The Bravettes are 1-7 against teams in the region tournament. They have won three of their last five games with the losses coming to Henderson County and Hopkins County Central.

The winners from Monday and Tuesday will play Friday night in the semifinals.

The championship game is set for Saturday night at Christian County High School.
