Crittenden County’s new volleyball head coach is its former volleyball head coach.

The school announced on Tuesday that Bayley Tucker McDonald will take over from Savanna Tays (Harper).

Tays, who replaced McDonald during the 2023 season, stepped down following this past season.

Tays was the 2nd Region Coach of the Year in 2024 after leading the Lady Rockets to a 19-6 record and an All A Classic regional championship.

Both McDonald and Tays are former Caldwell County standouts.

McDonald is a 2011 graduate of Caldwell County High School. She was a member of Caldwell’s All ‘A’ Classic state championship team in 2010 and is also a former assistant coach with the Lady Tigers.

McDonald played college volleyball at Kentucky Wesleyan and Mid-Continent.

McDonald originally took over the Lady Rocket program in 2019 when she was elevated from assistant following the departure of Cara Hunt.

McDonald was 2nd Region Coach of the Year in 2021 after guiding Crittenden to a 15-11 mark.

The Lady Rockets went 19-15 in 2022.

But McDonald stepped down for personal reasons early in the 2023 season and Tays, a 2019 Caldwell grad, took over.
