For a high school basketball career, 1,999 points is nothing to sneeze at. But there is something special about going over that next big mark of 2,000.
That is the story for Todd County Central’s Alexis Taylor following the Lady Rebels’ final game of the season Monday night in the regional tournament against Bowling Green.
Bowling Green got by the Lady Rebels 37-35 in a defensive battle in Diddle Arena. Alexis Taylor finished the game with 17 points to lead the Lady Rebels.
It was initially thought that Taylor ended her career with 1,999 points, just one point away from that 2,000 point mark. So close to breaking that barrier.
Well, turns out that Alexis does not have 1,999 points. She ends up with 2,001 points for her career. The coaching staff went back through scorebooks and video and found a game back in January where a basket was mistakenly credited to another Lady Rebel player when it should have given to Taylor.
So, you can officially now include Alexis Taylor in the 2,000 point club.
