A special moment for former Madisonville-North Hopkins standout Zach Tow during Tuesday night’s UK win over LSU at Rupp Arena. Tow, a 2022 Maroon grad, got the opportunity to take to the floor, along with the other UK walk-ons in the final moments of the Cats’ win over the Tigers.

What makes the story even better is the story behind how Tow got the chance to be in the situation to get in the game.

Tow was among the students to come out last summer during an ‘open tryout’ for Mark Pope’s Wildcats. Lo and behold, in October, you could find Tow on the court for UK’s Pro Day.

And while he was on the UK roster, Tow, the third of three walk-ons for the Cats, never appeared in uniform on the bench, in fact, he did not even have a UK game jersey. Until Tuesday night that is.

Reports indicate that Lamont Butler approached Coach Mark Pope a few weeks back about Tow being given a jersey after going through practices and putting in the work with the rest of the team. The Coach was swayed and Butler was able to present the jersey to Tow prior to the game against LSU.

To cap off the big night, Tow, along with the other walk-ons, was able to get in the game just ahead of the final horn and have his moment as a Wildcat on the Rupp Arena floor.
