Hickman County Hands Wildcats Scrimmage Defeat

In their final tune-up before opening the baseball regular season on Monday against Hopkins County Central, the Trigg County Wildcats dropped a 10-6 decision on Tuesday to visiting Hickman County.

With the game knotted 1-1 in the second, Hickman County took the lead for good with three runs, including a two-run double for Gabe Dowdy.

Joearie Crumble drove in a pair of runs with a double in the third to stretch the lead to 7-1, and the Falcons tacked on three more runs in the fifth.

James Garnett and Aaden Allen each doubled in two runs in the fifth for Trigg, and the Wildcats’ final run came home on an error.

Ty Gootee started on the mound for the Wildcats, allowing four runs, three earned, on four hits with a walk and a pair of strikeouts in two innings.  Grayson McKee surrendered six runs, three earned, on three hits with four walks and four strikeouts, and Jon Humphries got the final out.

Allen and Garnett each drove in two runs, Aidon Butts drove in a run, and Chase Hampton was the lone Wildcat with two hits.

Trigg County will be looking to extend it’s winning streak against Hopkins County Central to five games in Monday’s opener.  The Wildcats last lost to the Storm in 2010.
