Hunt Goes Deep Twice in Blazers’ Scrimmage Rout

University Heights Academy hit the ground running in the Blazers’ first outing of the baseball preseason, using four home runs, including a Jaiden Miles grand slam, to down hosts Logan County 22-4 on Tuesday.

Hunt opened the game with his first home run on a shot to right field before Logan County took the lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second.

The Blazers broke it open with a two-out rally in the third, with RBI singles by Jackson Flynn and Josh Pace and run-scoring doubles for Courtland Gibson and Eli Finch.

UHA hit three homers in a 15-run fourth, starting with Cadence Gibson’s three-run blast to left field.  Miles cleared the bases to stretch the lead to 17-2, and Hunt followed with his second long ball to drive in two.

Miles pitched a scoreless first with a strikeout and also drove in five runs.  Bryson Turner allowed two earned runs on two hits with three walks, Pace gave up two hits and struck out four in one and two-thirds to go with two hits and three RBI, and Jackson Flynn walked one and struck out three in an inning of work.

Thomas Hallmark allowed a run on three hits in one inning for the Blazers, and Timothy Hallmark surrendered a run on three walks with two strikeouts in the sixth.

Hunt and Cadence Gibson each drove in three, Finch added two RBI, Flynn and Courtland Gibson each knocked in a run, and Aiden Jones finished 3/3 at the plate.

The Blazers will finish their preseason schedule on Friday with a visit from Daviess County before opening the regular season on Monday against visiting Franklin-Simpson.
