
Lyon County’s Austin Spears connected on a two-run home run, and the Lyons picked up their second preseason win with a 6-1 decision over Madisonville-North Hopkins on Tuesday in Eddyville.
Peyton Williams worked three perfect innings on the mound and struck out nine for the Lyons. John Bingham gave up an unearned run on two hits with a pair of strikeouts over two frames, and Turner Hurst retired all three batters he faced.
Lyon County posted three first-inning runs on Spears’ two-run shot and an RBI single by Payson Oliver. Oliver earned his second RBI with a single in the third and finished 3/3 at the plate.
Cohen Wiggins and Drew Richie each had RBIs for the Lyons, and Bingham, Spears, Williams, and Brady Belt each had a hit.
For the Maroons, Lane Faulk allowed three earned runs on four hits with a walk and two strikeouts over two innings. Brantley Harris surrendered an unearned run on two hits with four strikeouts in three frames, and Matthew Yates gave up two unearned runs on two hits in an inning of work.
