A big pitching effort was the story of the night Friday as the University Heights Academy Blazers closed out their preseason with a scrimmage win over Daviess County. The score was 11-0 after the first seven innings of the night.
Six Blazer pitchers combined to allow the Panthers just one hit through the first seven innings of the game. Josh Pace got the start and went two innings, giving up one hit, striking out four, and walking none.
UHA scored three runs in the first, one in the third, and then seven more in the seventh.
Aaron Hogart led the Blazers with three hits and two RBIs. Hayden Hunt, Cadence Gibson, and Aiden Jones added two hits each.
UHA will officially open the season Monday as the Blazers host Franklin-Simpson.
