Maroons Handle Hancock County 12-1

For the second night in a row, the Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons made quick work of an opponent. The Maroons scored in each inning Tuesday as they rolled to a 12-1 win over Hancock County in five innings at Elmer Kelley Stadium.

Seven different Maroon batters had a hit in the game as Madisonville used 9 hits, 7 walks, and three Hornet errors to generate their 12 runs.

Hancock County used an RBI single from Carson Clark to take a 1-0 lead after the top of the first. That lead would be short-lived.

The Maroons came right back with 6 runs in the bottom half of the inning. The first five batters reached base safely as Madisonville started its rally. The big hit in the inning was a two-run double from Evan Lear.

Madisonville-North Hopkins (2-0) added a run in the second, three in the third, and two more in the bottom of the fourth.

Freshman Gauge Clark had a big game for the Maroons, going 2-2 with 2 RBIs and two runs scored. Alex Richards was also 2-2 with a run scored. Brantley Harris was 1-1 with 3 RBIs. Evan Lear and Lane Faulk had two RBIs each for the Maroons.

Harris went all five innings on the mound for Madisonville. He gave up one run on six hits, striking out four and walking just one.
