
The Dawson Springs Lady Panthers scored in their first three at-bats Tuesday night but it was not enough to avoid a second straight loss to open the season. Mayfield scored 16 runs over the first two innings on the way to a 17-6 win over the Lady Panthers.
Pitching struggles and a handful of fielding miscues cost the Lady Panthers. Dawson Springs was charged with four errors and gave up 9 walks for the night.
The Lady Panthers put up three runs in the top of the first to take the early 3-0 lead. Kalyn Cotton’s RBI single was the big hit in the inning for Dawson Springs.
Three Lady Panther errors in the bottom of the first, along with three walks and a hit batter, opened the door for Mayfield to plate 8 runs in the inning. Five walks and another error enabled the Lady Cardinals to hang another 8 on the board in the bottom of the second to put the game away.
Katie Blanchard led Dawson Springs (0-2) going 2-3 at the plate with a run scored. Briley Sawyer finished 1-4 with an RBI. Kalyn Cotton was 1-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
