Warriors Drop 11-5 Season Opener Against Whitesville Trinity

The Heritage Christian Academy Warriors dropped their season opener Tuesday, falling 11-5 to Whitesville Trinity.

Trinity established the early advantage, capitalizing on a walk and a timely two-out single to take a 2-0 lead in the first inning. The Warriors saw the Raiders explode for five runs in the bottom of the second inning, extending the lead.

Heritage Christian battled back, scoring runs in the second, fifth, and sixth innings,  but they were unable to consistently slow down the Raiders’ scoring.

A highlight for the Warriors came in the fifth inning when Ethan Miles delivered a crucial two-run double, bringing the score to 9-4. The Warriors further narrowed the deficit to 9-5 in the sixth inning. However, Trinity came back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth, sealing the 11-5 victory.

On the mound, Jayden Nichols pitched for the Warriors, allowing 11 runs, 3 of them earned, on 7 hits, while striking out 9 batters.

Offensively, the Warriors managed 6 hits and drew 13 walks. Tycen Wells delivered a strong performance, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a walk. Cadyn Travis also contributed with a 1-for-4 showing and an RBI.

Looking ahead, the Heritage Christian Academy Warriors will seek to rebound as they travel to Paducah to face Community Christian Academy on Thursday night.
