Christian County Dispatches HCA for Big District Win (w/PHOTOS)

The Christian County Lady Colonels trailed for the first time this softball season Thursday night. For half an inning.

Heritage Christian Academy took the early 1-0 lead only to see the Lady Colonels score 17 unanswered runs in their two at-bats of the game on the way to a 17-1 three-innings 8th District win over the Lady Warriors.

HCA (0-1) followed up a pair of one-out walks in the top of the first inning with an RBI double from Madison Warren that gave the Lady Warriors the lead.

The lead did not hold for long as the first six batters in the bottom half of the inning reached base for Christian County and opened the floodgates for a seven-run inning. Heritage Christian pitching gave up four walks and two hit batters in the inning.

Christian County (2-0) then blew the game wide open with 10 runs in the bottom of the second. Seven of those runs were scored after there were two outs. HCA did not help its cause any in the inning, giving up two walks, two hit batters, and two errors.

Christian County’s 17 runs in the game came off of just seven hits. Katie Smith finished 2-2 with a double, 4 RBIs, and two runs scored. Five other Lady Colonels had one hit each in the game. Jada Miller did not have a hit but did drive in a pair of runs.

Avery Adock picked up the win in the circle for Christian County, pitching two innings, giving up one run on one hit, striking out four and walking two.

Layton Weeks took the loss for the Lady Warriors.
