Caldwell County grad Jabrion Spikes and the Georgetown Tigers are one of the last eight teams remaining in the NAIA Men’s National Championships in Kansas City.
But the Tigers had to rally late after losing a 17-point lead in the second half Thursday night.
Down 69-67, Tae Dozier hit a 3-pointer with 21 seconds to play to put Georgetown back in front, and the Tigers held on for a 73-70 triumph.
Spikes had five points and three rebounds in the win as Georgetown, a No. 2 seed, advanced to the national quarterfinals.
Dozer finished with 21 points for the Tigers. Jaquias Franklin topped the scoresheet with 23.
Next up is No. 1 seed College of Idaho. That game will be Saturday at 3:00.
The Yotes are 32-2.
Georgetown was ranked No. 4 in the final NAIA poll of the season. The College of Idaho was No. 1.
The Tigers will be looking to advance to the 17th Fab Four in program history.
