Despite doubling up hosts Crittenden County in hits on Friday, Heritage Christian Academy paid the price for seven errors in an 8-3 loss to the Rockets.

The Warriors slipped to 1-2 while Crittenden County moved to 2-0 ahead of matchups with Fort Campbell and John Hardin on Saturday in the Varsity Baseball Triangle @ Crittenden County.

Heritage Christian took an early lead on Caden Gresham’s RBI single, but Crittenden posted three runs in the bottom of the first without the benefit of a hit to move in front for good.

Trailing 4-1 in the top of the fourth, Tycen Wells singled to drive in a run for the Warriors before the Rockets took advantage of a pair of HCA errors to push two runs across in their next at-bat.

Gresham again singled to bring in a run in the fifth, but that would be it for the Warrior offense.  Jaxton Duncan’s RBI double highlighted a two-run sixth for the Rockets, and HCA went down in order in the top of the seventh.

Drake Young earned the win on the mound for Crittenden, giving up three runs, two earned, on six hits with a walk and five strikeouts.

Gresham and Cadyn Travis each had two hits for HCA.  Ethan Miles took the loss, allowing six unearned runs on two hits with five walks and six strikeouts.

On Saturday, the Warriors will host Livingston Central and Russellville in the Heritage Christian Invitational.
