A seventh inning comeback for the Christian County came up just short Friday night against Warren East. The Colonels had the bases loaded as the game ended on a fly ball to left and Christian County dropped a 4-2 home field decision to the Raiders.
Christian County, which had been held to just three hits in the game, entered the bottom of the 7th trailing 4-0. A walk and then a single from Aiden Lewis gave the Colonels runners on first and second with no outs. After a balk call, Coalton Ingram grounded out and drove in Leland Creamer to make it 4-1. Sebastian Dazey walked to put runners at the corners.
After Blake Boehman flied out for the second out of the inning, Gage Montes walked to load the bases. Eddie Davis drove in a run when he was hit by a pitch, cutting the lead to 4-2 and putting the tying run at second and the winning run at first. However, the comeback ended as Layton Creamer then flied out to left to close out the game.
Warren East scored a run in the first, a run in the fourth, and then added two more in the top of the 6th. None of the runs were earned as the Colonels were charged with three errors in the game, setting the stage for all of the Warren East runs.
Aiden Lewis, Blake Boehman, Layton Creamer, and Preston Stokes had one hit each for Christian County (1-2).
Eddie Davis got the start on the mound for Christian County and went 4 ⅔ innings, giving up 2 unearned runs on two hits, striking out 8 and walking 6.
Nolan Young went 2 ⅓ innings in relief, giving up two unearned runs on no hits, striking out three and walking none.
