Webster County senior pitcher Cooper Logan was almost unhittable Friday night. Actually, turned out he was unhittable for the Hopkins County Central Storm.
Logan overpowered Storm hitters on his way to throwing a no-hitter as the Trojans won their season opener 9-0 in Mortons Gap. Logan struck out 15 batters and gave up three walks in his seven innings of work.
The Hopkins County Central defense did itself no favors Friday night. The Storm were charged with 7 errors in the game which allowed the Trojans to score 7 unearned runs.
Webster County (1-0) plated six runs in the top of the third and then added two runs in the fifth and one more in the sixth. Canaan Taylor and Trace Hardison had big games at the plate for the Trojans. Each went 1-4 with 2 RBIs and a run scored.
Hopkins Central falls to 1-2 with the loss and will go on the road Saturday to take on Trigg County.
