HCA Falls to Livingston and Knocks Off Russellville

The Heritage Christian Academy Warriors picked up a split with Livingston Central and Russellville in a pair of games in Saturday baseball action in the Heritage Christian Academy Invitational. The Warriors lost a slugfest to Livingston Central 14-12 but picked up a 9-6 win over the Panthers.

Against Livingston Central, the Warriors trailed 12-4 going into the bottom of the 6th inning. HCA took advantage of two Cardinal errors and got a bases-loaded triple from Ethan Miles to score 7 runs and pull within 12-11 heading into the final inning.

Livingston Central scored two big insurance runs in the top of the 7th to push the lead out to 14-11. The Warriors then scored a run in the bottom of the inning on a single from Caden Gresham but could not manage any more as the Cardinals held on for the win.

Ethan Miles was 3-4 with 6 RBIs and a run scored to lead the Warriors. Caden Gresham finished 1-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Against the Panthers, Heritage scored in every inning but the top of the first on the way to a 9-6 five-inning win over the Panthers. The Warriors plated two runs in the second, two more in the third, three in the fourth, and then two in the top of the fifth.

Cadyn Travis had a big game for the Warriors, going 2-2 at the plate with a double, 2 RBIs, and a run scored. Tycen Wells was 2-3 with a pair of runs scored. Chase Cook ended up 2-3 with an RBI, and two runs scored.

Jayden Nichols pitched all five innings to get the win for Heritage Christian (2-3). He gave up six runs, just three of them earned, on six hits, striking out 10 and walking only two.
