The Todd County Central Rebels overcame fielding issues Saturday to pick up their second straight win to open the 2025 season. The Rebels scored in every inning but the first on their way to a 9-7 win over Clarksville Christian.
The Rebels rebounded from an early 6-0 deficit to come up with the victory.
The Rebels had their struggles in the field, being charged with seven errors for the game, which allowed the Centurions to score three unearned runs.
Clarksville Christian took full advantage of seven walks and two Rebel miscues to build the 6-0 lead after an inning and a half.
Todd Central scored a run in the bottom of the second and a run in the bottom of the third to trim the lead to 6-2.
Clarksville Christian got one of those two runs back in the top of the fourth, pushing the lead back out to 7-2.
The Rebels then rallied for four runs in the bottom of the fourth, cutting the lead to 7-6. Devin Schutt had the big hit in the inning with a two-run double. An error allowed the Rebels to even things up at 7-7 in the bottom of the 5th.
Noah Rager came up with what turned out to be the winning hit in the bottom of the 6th with a double that drove in Ty Jolly and Jayden Glass and gave the Rebels the lead for the first time of the game at 9-7.
Rager then set the Centurions down in the top of the 7th to lock up the win. That completed a big day on the mound for Rager, who picked up the win in relief. He went 5 ⅓-innings, giving up no runs on five hits, striking out 8 and walking only one.
For Todd County Central (2-0), Ty Jolly had a solid game at the plate, going 2-2 with an RBI and two runs scored. Noah Rager and Devin Schutt each went 1-3 with a double and two RBIs.
