McCracken County junior Addley Leidecker struck out 10 while shutting out Caldwell County on four base hits on Monday.

The visiting Lady Mustangs scored three runs in the top of the first inning and went on to defeat the Lady Tigers 4-0.

McCracken (5-1) loaded the bases with one out in the first inning on three straight singles. Bases-loaded walks by Savannah McDowell and Leidecker drove in the first two runs of the game. Cami Cox brought home another run with a sacrifice fly to right.

The Lady Mustangs loaded the bases again in the second inning — this time with nobody out. However, Caldwell’s Alexis Wood worked out of the jam on two grounders back to the pitcher and a fly ball to centerfield.

Caldwell (1-3) battled to stay in the game, but was given few opportunities offensively by Leidecker.

The Lady Tigers tried to mount a two-out rally in the fourth when Adley Lewis doubled and Alexis Wood singled with two outs. However, Leidecker got the next hitter to pop out to first base.

Caldwell put two on with one out in the bottom of the sixth on back-to-back singles by Brylee Butts and Harper Holeman. But Leidecker struck out the next batters.

McCracken added its fourth run in the seventh on an RBI groundout by McDowell.

Caldwell got a baserunner in the bottom of the seventh on a one-out error, but Leidecker got a strikeout and a pop out to third base to end the game.

Macey Butler was 3-for-4 for McCracken while Olivia Lee was 2-for-4 and scored twice.

Wood was the losing pitcher for Caldwell. She allowed four earned runs on 10 hits while striking out two and walking one.

Leidecker did not issue a free pass for McCracken while improving to 4-0 in the pitching circle.

The Lady Tigers will be in action again on Thursday when they visit Madisonville-North Hopkins for 7th District action.
