
The Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons overpowered the Union County Braves 13-3 on Monday night in Madisonville. The win was the second straight for the Maroons since a tough loss to McLean County.
Union County initially jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, capitalizing on a fielder’s choice, a walk, and a two-out single. However, Madisonville responded swiftly, taking a 4-3 lead with a two-out single and triple in the bottom of the first. The Maroons continued their offensive surge, extending the lead to 7-3 in the second with hits from Ryder Sandidge and Brantley Harris. Madisonville would secure the victory reaching 13 runs by the sixth inning.
Lane Faulk and Caden Weaver delivered strong pitching performances for Madisonville, limiting Union County to just four hits.
Offensively, Sandidge led the effort, going 3-for-3 with two walks and two RBIs, while Harris also contributed two RBIs.
Brady Greenwell struggled on the mound for Union County, allowing nine hits, nine runs, and seven walks.
Payton Garrett provided the Braves with one of their three runs.
Madisonville improves to 4-1 and travels to Christian County on Friday.
Union County falls to 2-4 and hosts Caldwell County on Friday.
