Todd County Central was undone by eight errors on Thursday in a 7-5 loss to visiting Northeast, TN. The Rebels ended the game with the bases loaded but couldn’t find the crucial hit to avoid their second loss in three games.
After Northeast built a 3-0 lead after an RBI single by Cameron Skaggs in the top of the third, Todd Central answered in the bottom of the frame with a run-scoring single from Conner Wheeler and a steal of home to trim the margin to a run.
The teams traded runs in the fifth and sixth before Jamarion Green’s RBI double gave Northeast a 7-4 edge with the Rebels down to their final at-bat. After the Rebels got a run back on an Eagles error, they loaded the bases with two outs on a pair of hit-by-pitches. However, the Rebels couldn’t come through with the clutch hit to complete the comeback.
Noah Rager took the loss for the Rebels, allowing five runs, only one earned, on six hits with a walk and six strikeouts. Ty Jolly worked the seventh, giving up two unearned runs on two hits with a strikeout.
Northeast improved to 5-13 behind Aidan Lee’s win on the mound. Lee surrendered three runs, two earned, on four hits with a pair of walks and nine strikeouts.
Todd Central will try to get back on track on Friday when McLean County visits Elkton.
