Coming off a big win over Lyon County earlier in the week, one might have been concerned that the Christian County Colonels could experience a little bit of a letdown headed into Friday night’s game against Madisonville-North Hopkins. Turned out not to be the case.
The Colonels got a big start on the mound from Eddie Davis, who lost a no-hit bid with two outs in the top of the 7th as Christian County blanked the Maroons 4-0. The win was the 5th straight for the Colonels.
Outside of some control issues, Davis was in control from the very beginning. He finished with 10 strikeouts in 6 ⅔ innings and had five walks. The only hit for the Maroons came from freshman Alex Richards in the final inning.
Once Davis lost his no-hitter, Andrew Fincham came in to get the final out of the game.
The Colonels got on the board in the bottom of the third inning on a two-run single from Aiden Lewis to make it 2-0.
Christian County added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth on a Maroon error to make it 4-0.
Lewis, Sebastian Dazey, Blake Boehman, and Thadius Tolliver had one hit each for the Colonels.
Brantley Harris had a solid game for Madisonville. He went all six innings, giving up four runs, just two of them earned, on four hits, striking out three and walking four.
Christian County improves to 6-2 with the win, while Madisonville-North Hopkins drops to 4-2.
