An early deficit was a bit much for the Christian County Lady Colonels to overcome on the road Friday evening. Madisonville-North Hopkins took an early 6-0 lead and then fought off the Lady Colonels down the stretch as the Lady Maroons claimed a 7-5 win.

The Lady Maroons opened fast with four runs in the bottom of the first and then two more in the bottom of the second. Maggie Killough and Nevaeh Lindle had the big hits in the first inning while Sydney Skeen added a two-run double in the bottom of the second.

Christian County cut the lead in half in the top of the third when Alondra Rodriguez took one over the left field fence to make it 6-3.

A Christian County error allowed the Lady Maroons to get one of the runs back in the bottom half of the inning, pushing the lead back out to 7-3.

The Lady Colonels would add a run in the top of the fifth and one in the top of the seventh.

Madisonville (3-4), which has now won three straight, was led by Sadie Kirk, who finished 3-4 with two runs scored. Sydney Skeen and Nevaeh Lindle added two hits each for the Lady Maroons.

Christian County (4-3) got a big night from Alondra Rodriguez, who was 3-4 with three RBIs. Avery Adcock was 2-3 with two runs scored.

Mackenzie Stoltz was big for the Lady Maroons in the circle, going all seven innings, giving up five runs on six hits, striking out 14, and walking three.
