Hoptown Girls Tie for Ninth Place at Invitational of the South

The Hopkinsville girls’ track and field team saw some runners post new personal bests and welcomed some new athletes to the team as they prepare for the school’s final two years in Class 2A.

Alexis Herrera-Loveto was third in the 800 meters in a new best run of 2:37.78.

Lauren Mayes ran the fatest time of any Hopkinsville athlete not named Allison Wood as she finished in third place in the 3200-meter run in 12:22.41 — knocking eight seconds off her previous best.

Grace Cansler came in fourth place in the 400-meter dash in 1:02.78 and seventh place in the 100-meter dash in 13.40 seconds.

Ollia Dixon came in 14th in the 100-meter hurdles in 19.81 seconds.

Kaniya Jackson Grundy was 15th in the 100-meter hurdles in 20.21 seconds.

Leaunna Wilkerson was 16th in the 100-meter hurdles in 20.30 seconds.

Alicia Davis came out from the basketball team and finished 16th in the 400-meter run in 1:10.03. She was also 21st in the 100-meter dash in 13.94 seconds and 21st in the 200-meter dash in 29.74 seconds.

Heaven McCollough was 22nd in the 400-meter dash in 1:11.75.

Jayla Brunson was 31st in the 200-meter dash in 31.65 seconds.

Braelyn Gaines came in 34th place in the 100-meter dash in 14.49 seconds.

In the relays, the 1600-meter team of Alexis Herrera-Loveto, Heaven McCollough, Alicia Davis, and Kalajsha Rowe finished in sixth place in 5:00.68.

The 800-meter team of Jashyah Sharber, Kalajsha Rowe, Aireona Spikes, and Leaunna Wilkerson came in ninth place in 1:59.07.

the 400-meter team of Aireona Spikes, Braelyn Gaines, Grace Cansler, and Jashyah Sharber finished in 10th place in 57.31 seconds.

In the field events, TaLaijha Cherry came in 17th place in the shot put at 26-5 and 24th in the discus throw at 61-4.

Malaih Miller was 12th in the discus throw at 73-11 and was 22nd in the shot put at 25-7.5.

Zoey Thomas was 15th in the triple jump at 25-9.5.

Leaunna Wilkerson was 21st in the long jump at 12-7.

Catori Wilson was 18th in the triple jump at 21-5 and was 29th in the long jump at 11-4.5.

Amani Pizana was 30th in the long jump at 11-3.

Amani Jones was 32nd in the discus throw at 52-2 and 39th in the shot put at 19-7.5.

As a team. Hopkinsville tied for ninth place with Murray at 30 points. They were one point behind eighth place Caldwell County and two points behind Paducah Tilghman.
