The Hopkins County Central Storm ended up with a split of the two games they played Saturday during a trip to Breckinridge County. The Lady Storm fell 18-5 to Butler County in their opening game of the day but then came back to take a 10-8 win over host Breckinridge County to finish out their trip.
In the first game, Butler County hit the Lady Storm with a six-run first inning and then delivered the knockout blow with 11 runs in the third as the Lady Bears went on to take the 18-5 win.
The Lady Bears had 12 hits and took advantage of 11 Lady Storm errors in the five-inning game. Hopkins County Central pitchers also gave up five walks.
Addison Blanchard, Julia Harris, Layla Sorrells, and Reese Blanford had one hit each for Hopkins County Central. Blanchard also had two RBIs.
Against Breckinridge County, the Lady Storm survived 7 errors in the field as they outhit Breckinridge 12 to 6 on the way to a 10-8 win, the Lady Storm’s second victory of the season.
Hopkins County Central scored in each of the first four innings as the Lady Storm took a 9-5 lead. The Lady Storm then held off a 7th inning rally that saw Breckinridge County bring the winning run to the plate.
Julia Harris was 3-4 with a double for Hopkins County Central. Ella Hopper was 3-5 with three RBIs and a run scored. Emily Ballard and Reese Blanford added two hits each for the Lady Storm, who improved to 2-10 with the win.
