With just two athletes competing, Christian County saw them each bring home top-five finishes at the Invitational of the South track and field meet Friday night at Marshall County.

Kristen Johnson placed third in the 200 meters in 22.52 seconds, which is the third-fastest in school history and .31 seconds off Tre Blanton’s two-year-old record. Johnson also finished fifth in the 400 meters in 52.58 seconds.

Meanwhile, Christopher McCarley took third place in the discus throw and extended his school record set last year. McCarley’s heave of 146-9 was almost two feet more than he mark he set at last year’s region meet and five feet more than Terrence Sowerby’s 2015 mark.

McCarley also finished in fifth place in the shot put at 46 feet.

Christian County finished in 14th place with 20 points.

  1. Why are y’all lying because more people competed then just two for Christian County and my daughter was one of them so start getting your fact right

    1. Only Johnson and McCarley participated for Christian County at the Invitational of the South. No female Christian County athletes took part at the Invitational of the South. Thank you for your response.
