The Christian County softball team pulled away with five runs over the final three innings on Tuesday to knock off hosts Webster County 8-2.
Avery Adcock smacked her third home run of the season with one on in the third to give the Lady Colonels a 3-0 advantage. Webster County answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame, highlighted by Chloe Papineau’s RBI double, to trim the margin to a run.
The Lady Colonels found some breathing room in the fifth thanks to Alondra Rodriquez’s RBI double and a run-scoring single by Alyssa Petterson. Petterson also picked up the win in the circle, allowing two unearned runs on four hits with a walk and two strikeouts over three and two-thirds innings.
Rodriquez capped a two-hit, two-RBI night with a double to plate the final run in the top of the sixth.
Papineau took the loss for the Lady Trojans, surrendering eight runs, six earned, on seven hits with 11 strikeouts and three walks.
Christian County improved to 5-3 and will be back on the road on Thursday, weather permitting, to face Union County.
