For the second day in a row, Madisonville-North Hopkins was held to a single hit while slipping to 0-2 on a spring break trip to Illinois after an 18-0 loss to Chicago’s St. Patrick on Tuesday.

St. Patrick scored early and often, beginning with a lead-off home run by Thomas Tomaszek in a three-run first inning.  Six runs followed in the second, highlighted by Paddy Roth’s two-run double.

Leading 14-0, St. Patrick pushed four more runs across in the bottom of the fourth for the final score.

Evan Wilson took the loss for Madisonville, allowing nine runs, four earned, on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts.  The Maroons’ only hit was Gauge Clark’s double to lead off the fifth.

Madisonville dropped to 4-4 and will play its final game on Wednesday against Wheaton North, IL before returning home for a Monday trip to Apollo.
