
Trigg County’s first two softball games played in Alabama were wins that extended their winning streak to five games.
Lily Eagleson hit a walk-off home run to give the Lady Wildcats a 6-5 win over Scottsboro, Alabama, on Thursday in Hartselle.
Eagleson’s second homer of the season capped a two-hit day for the freshman and was one of two round-trippers for the Lady Wildcats. Livia Breckel connected for a two-run shot in the fourth inning – also her second homer of the season — that staked Trigg to a 2-1 lead and kickstarted a five-run inning.
Jayden Visingardi had an RBI single and EmmaLee Futrell followed with a double to scsore Visingardi to advance Trigg’s lead to 5-1.
Scottsboro (12-6), who advanced to the Alabama Class 5A state quarterfinals in 2023, tied the game with a pair of two-run homers in the fifth inning by Morgan Perkins and Shila Wadkins.
The fourth inning was the only wobble for Tember Oliver in the circle, who struck out three and scattered eight hits in improving to 6-2.
The Lady Wildcats got good balance from the bottom of the order, where Visingardi, Futrell, and Veyda Grinols each had a hit as part of Trigg’s seven-hit afternoon.
Trigg County concluded the day with a 5-4 win over Skyline, Alabama.
Makenna Hendricks’ single in the bottom of the fourth inning scored Lexie Valentine with the go-ahead run in what would be a five-inning contest.
Skyline (7-14), a Class A school in Scottsboro, Alabama, jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings.
Maddie Smith began the comeback with an RBI double in the third. After Breckel reached on an error, Kady Fuller blasted a three-run homer to left to tie the game. It was Fuller’s first round-tripper of the season and she doubled her season RBI total with one swing that tied the game.
Fuller finished with two hits, while Hendricks added three, and Oliver had a triple.
Addy Holley came on in relief in the second inning and picked up her first varsity win, pitching 2.1 innings and allowing no runs and one hit.
Oliver pitched the final inning to notch her first career save.
Trigg County (7-4) has won five straight games and will try and get two more games in on Friday in Alabama with a single elimination tournament on Saturday before returning home to the Bluegrass State.
