Playing the last game of their spring break stretch on Thursday at Crestview High School, the Hopkinsville Tigers fell 11-0 to Hancock County despite collecting eight hits to the Hornets’ nine.

The Tigers were in a charitable mood, committing five errors and hitting five batters to make things easier on Hancock County.  The Hornets pushed three runs across in their first at-bat against Hoptown starter Gavin Mitchell.

An RBI single by Carter Lyday, two runs on Tiger errors, and two more on hit-by-pitches did most of the damage in a seven-run third inning, stretching the lead to 10-0.

Mitchell took the loss on the mound, allowing 10 runs, seven earned, on eight hits, with one walk and three strikeouts.  Chase Fort had two hits for the Tigers.

Carson Clark earned the win for the Hornets, scattering eight hits with three strikeouts over five shutout innings.  Clark also drove in two runs, and Dec Lewko and Dylan Mucker each collected two hits.

Hopkinsville slipped to 3-5 with its fourth loss in five outings.  The Tigers will look to get back on track on Monday when they host Trigg County.
