
Caldwell County’s girls made quick work of University Heights Academy in Tuesday’s opening round matchup in the 2nd Region All A Classic.
Alexis Wood struck out all nine batters she faced as the Lady Tigers shut out the Lady Blazers 15-0 in three innings.
Caldwell, now 4-4, scored seven runs in the first inning and eight runs in the second to build its 15-run advantage.
Brylee Butts was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and two runs batted in for the Lady Tigers, who had eight base hits in the contest.
Adley Lewis was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI while Grace Watson was 1-for-1 with a triple while knocking in three.
Harper Holeman, Alexis Wood and Josie Palm each singled for Caldwell.
Meanwhile, Wood threw just 42 pitches in three innings — 34 strikes — while picking up the win in the pitching circle.
Caldwell will host the regional All A semifinals on Thursday. The Lady Tigers will face Dawson Springs in the 5:30 p.m. contest.
