Despite outhitting visiting Henderson County 10-3 on Tuesday night, the Christian County Colonels paid the price for three errors and 11 walks to suffer only their second defeat in the last eight outings.

Fresh off its first win of the season last week over Hancock County, Henderson took a first-inning lead on Cooper Vowels’ RBI single and added a pair of runs in the second on a bases-loaded walk and a Christian County error.

Christian County got a run back in the bottom of the second on Thad Toliver’s RBI double, but another walk with the bases juiced and back-to-back errors allowed Henderson to stretch the lead to 8-1 in the third.

With the bases full and one out in the sixth, Christian County got a run home on a passed ball, and Sebastian Dazey’s double to left brought in two to cut the margin to three.  But despite a lead-off double by Blake Boehman and a walk to bring the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh, a strikeout ended the game.

Gage Montes took the loss on the mound, allowing an earned run on two hits in an inning of work.  Dazey finished 3/4 with two RBI, and Eddie Davis collected two hits for the Colonels.

Maddox Golday earned the win for Henderson, allowing a single earned run on six hits with three strikeouts over four and a third innings.

Christian County will look to bounce back on Thursday at Graves County.  Henderson will be looking for a third-straight victory on the road at Breckinridge County on Wednesday.
