Lyon County needed only two innings to score 16 runs to shut out Fort Campbell on Tuesday and advance to the semifinals of the Second Region All A Classic Softball Tournament.

The Lady Lyons had four extra base hits – including three doubles – as part of a nine-hit attack.

Lilly Perry smacked a two-run double as part of a seven-run first inning. Emma Brasher also had a two-run double in the first inning.

Courtney Collins added a two-run triple in the second inning as the Lady Lyons took advantage of six walks and three errors to plate nine more runs.

Collins and Audrey Akridge each had two hits for the Lady Lyons. Perry pitched the first two innings and struck out five. She allowed a second-inning single to Ryleigh Watry.

Ava Prow pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

Lyon County (3-4) now awaits the winner of Wednesday’s quarterfinal between Crittenden County and defending All A Classic state champion Livingston Central. The semifinal will be on Thursday at 7:30 at Caldwell County.

Caldwell County, which defeated University Heights Academy 15-0 on Tuesday, will play Dawson Springs at 5:30 in Thursday’s other semifinal.

Fort Campbell (3-6) looks to return the ‘Sisters in Arms’ trophy back to the home of the 101st Airborne Division when they host Fort Knox for a doubleheader on Saturday. It will be their first home games of the season following a full renovation of the school’s baseball and softball fields.
