It was one of the few games to be played Monday in the western end of the state. Madisonville-North Hopkins gave up only three hits to Apollo Monday evening but that turned out to be enough as the Eagles took a 5-1 win over the Maroons in Owensboro.

The Maroons took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. After having the first two batters walk, Madisonville’s Alex Richards drove in a run with a single to left. But, that would be the only run of the day for the Maroons.

Apollo got back to the lead in the bottom half of the inning with a pair of runs. The Eagles added three runs in the bottom of the fourth without the benefit of a hit. Apollo was able to convert off of two walks, a hit batter, and a Madisonville error.

Three Apollo pitchers combined on the three-hitter and had 15 strikeouts in the game.

For the Maroons, Alex Richards, Ryder Sandidge, and Lane Faulk had one hit each.

Brantley Harris was the starter for the Maroons and was charged with the loss. He went 3 ⅓ innings, giving up four runs on three hits, striking out two and walking two.

Madisonville falls to 4-6 with the loss.
