
Hosts Graves County entered Thursday’s contest with Christian County riding high on a five-game win streak, but the Colonels used hits from eight different players to down the Eagles 9-6.
Despite a pair of runs in the top of the first, Christian County found itself trailing after RBI singles by Cole Hayden, Wilson Thomas, and Cody Baldwin gave Graves County a 4-2 lead after two.
The Colonels answered with six runs over their next two at-bats, including RBI singles by Thad Toliver and Blake Boehman, to take the lead for good at 8-4.
A two-run single in the fifth by Graves County’s Hayden Thompson cut the margin to two runs before the Colonels added an insurance run on Gage Montes’s single in the top of the seventh.
Eddie Davis picked up the win on the mound for Christian County, surrendering six earned runs on five hits with three walks and four strikeouts over four innings. Sebastian Dazey was lights out over the final three scoreless innings, striking out four and giving up two hits.
Toliver finished with three RBI, and Davis drove in two. Boehman finished with three hits, and Aiden Lewis, Dazey, and Montes each collected two.
Christian County improved to 8-4 with its seventh win in nine games ahead of a trip to Paducah Tilghman on Friday.
Graves County slipped to 5-4, with Wilson Thomas taking the loss after allowing five earned runs on six hits with five walks and a pair of strikeouts over three innings.
