
After seeing a six-game winning streak come to an end with a pair of losses to close out a spring break trip to Alabama, the Trigg County softball team got back on track on Thursday with a 3-0 victory over hosts Logan County.
The Lady Wildcats came up empty with runners at the corners in their second at-bat but broke through against Logan County pitcher Addison Cartas when Livia Breckel’s two-out single brought in a run in the third.
EmmaLee Futrell doubled the advantage with a two-bagger to push a run across in the fourth, and the Lady Wildcats added a third run on MaKenna Hendricks’s sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh to bring in Veyda Grinols.
Tember Oliver was strong in the circle to pick up the win, scattering five hits over seven scoreless innings with a walk and four strikeouts. Breckel led Trigg County with two hits.
Cartas pitched well in the loss, allowing three runs, one earned, on seven hits with four walks and eight strikeouts. The Lady Cougars didn’t do her any favors with three errors.
Trigg County improved to 9-6 ahead of a trip to Russellville on Saturday to play in the Kelly Russell Classic.
Logan County slipped to 2-9 with its third-straight defeat.
