Asia Boone started all 67 games that Liberty had the last two seasons, including a NCAA Tournament game against Kentucky this season.

The Flames lost 79-78 at UK but the 5-8 sophomore guard had just one point and one rebound in only five minutes of play.

However, Boone obviously liked what she saw in Kentucky because she announced on social media that she was transferring to play for UK coach Kenny Brooks. She was an All-Conference USA second team pick last season after averaging 10.2 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 0.8 steals per game. She played 20 or more minutes in all but five games. She shot 36.9 percent from 3 with 62 makes on 168 attempts.

She was the CUSA Freshman of the Year when she averaged 10.1 points per game. Liberty had not had a conference freshman of the year since 2018. She hit 63 3-pointers as a freshman and averaged 29.9 minutes per game, more than she averaged as a sophomore.

Boone is the second Conference USA guard to transfer to Kentucky. Josie Gilvin of Western Kentucky, a Louisville Sacred Heart standout, transferred to UK earlier after spending three years with the Hilltoppers.

Clara Silva picks TCU

Former Kentucky player Clara Silva announced she would continue her career at TCU. The 6-7 center from Portugal placed a “do not contact” tag with her name when she entered the transfer portal almost immediately after UK’s season-ending loss.

Silva was the only UK reserve to play in every game last season when she averaged 4.0 points, 2.6 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.2 steals and 1.1 blocks in 12.5 minutes per game.
