Lady Falcons Score 7 in the 7th to Get Past Fort Knox (w/PHOTOS)

The first home game in nearly two years for the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons will be one that the Lady Falcons remember for quite a while. Fort Campbell plated seven runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally from a 12-6 deficit and take a 13-12 win over the Fort Knox Lady Eagles.

Baylee Backes’ two-out triple drove in Ryleigh Watry with the game-winning run to complete the final-inning rally in Fort Campbell’s first home game since May 2, 2023.

The Lady Falcons appeared to have this one going their way early in the game. Fort Campbell scored four runs in the bottom of the first to take a 4-0 lead. Hannah Stewart and Avaley Moore had big hits in the inning.

Fort Knox came back with three runs in the top of the third to trim the lead to 4-3. Makayla Galvez scored on a sac fly in the bottom of the inning to push the Lady Falcon lead back out to 5-3.

The Lady Eagles used a couple of walks to open the door to a six-run rally in the top of the fourth as Fort Knox took the lead for the first time and led 9-5 heading into the bottom of the inning.

Fort Knox appeared to have a grasp on the game as the Lady Eagles added two runs in the top of the fifth to make it 11-5. Fort Campbell got one of the runs back in the bottom half of the inning when Baylee Backes scored on a ground ball from Avaley Moore.

The Lady Eagles scored a run in the top of the seventh to push the lead back out to six runs at 12-6, setting the stage for the Fort Campbell rally.

Baylee Backes opened the bottom of the 7th with a double. After a walk to Hannah Stewart, Avaley Moore tripled to drive in two runs and cut the lead to 12-8. Following a hit batter, Moore would then score on a steal of home to make it 12-9.

Jordan Herring scored on a ground out, the first out of the inning, and it was a 12-10 game. Makayla Galvez scored on a steal of home to bring the lead down to a single run.

With two outs, Leela Togba-Doya stole home to even the game at 12-12, setting the stage for Baylee Backes game-winner.

Backes finished the game 3-4 with an RBI and four runs scored. Hannah Stewart was 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Avaley Moore ended up 2-3 with 3 RBIs and a run scored.

Hailey Herron went the distance in the circle for the Lady Falcons, giving up 12 runs on 10 hits, striking out 11 and walking seven.

The Lady Falcons improve to 4-6 with the win.
