Lyon County’s girls were just two outs away from an extra-inning win at Ballard Memorial on Saturday.

However, Lady Bomber sophomore Aubrey Alexander slammed a three-run home run to left field in the bottom of the eighth inning, and Ballard walked off a 4-3 victory over the Lady Lyons.

Tied 1-1 after seven innings, Lyon put up two runs in the top of the eighth to grab the lead for the first time in the contest.

Courtney Collins singled to center to drive in a run and make it 2-1. Lilly Perry then beat out a bunt single that plated another run to give Lyon a 3-1 advantage.

Perry was strong inside the pitching circle all day for Lyon. But the tiebreaker rule placed a runner at second base to start the eighth inning for the Lady Bombers. A one-out walk put runners at the corners.

Alexander then connected on a 2-1 pitch, giving the win to Ballard (4-4).

Alexander finished the day 2-for-4 with the homer and a double. Serenity Owens went 3-for-3 with an RBI for the Lady Bombers.

For Lyon, Collins was 2-for-3 while Perry finished 2-for-4. Audrey Akridge was also 2-for-4.

Perry struck out four and walked one while allowing three earned runs on nine base hits.

Madyson Bohde was the winning pitcher for Ballard. She gave up two earned runs on nine hits while striking out five and walking two.

The Lady Lyons will next see 5th District action on Tuesday when they host Crittenden County.
