Less than 24 hours after advancing to the 2nd Region All A Classic championship game, the Caldwell County Lady Tigers picked up their biggest win of the season. Alexis Wood pitched a complete game four-hitter as the Lady Tigers roared to a 7-0 road win Saturday morning at Christian County.
It was the first time that Caldwell County has shut out the Lady Colonels since the 2000 region championship game, which the Lady Tigers won 1-0 in Henderson.
Caldwell County took the lead for good with three runs in the top of the third using the long ball. Carlee Palm hit a two-run shot and Brylee Butts added a solo homer in the inning.
The Lady Tigers added two runs in the fourth, one in the fifth, and one more in the sixth.
The offensive output was more than enough for Alexis Wood. She went the distance, striking out two and walking none.
Carlee Palm was 2-3 for Caldwell County with a home run, 2 RBIs, and a run scored. Brylee Butts was also 2-3 with a home run, 2 RBIs, and a run scored. Tink Clark ended up 2-4 with an RBI. Grace Watson was 2-3 with two runs scored.
Chloe Almy, Alyssa Petterson, Alondra Rodriguez, and Jayda Turner had one hit each for Christian County.
Caldwell County improves to 6-4 with the win, while Christian County drops to 6-4 with the loss.
