Make it five straight and seven of the last eight for the Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons. The Lady Maroons got a lockdown pitching performance from 8th grader Sadie Kirk as they took down Calloway County 5-0 Saturday.

Kirk went the distance in the circle, giving up just two hits. She was virtually untouchable, striking out 17 and walking only one.

The Lady Maroons got on top in the bottom of the first on a single from Maggie Killough to take an early 1-0 lead.

The lead grew to 4-0 in the bottom of the fourth when Bryanna Harris took one over the centerfield fence.

Madisonville added an insurance run in the bottom of the 6th on an RBI single from Abigail Jones.

However, that would be insurance that Sadie Kirk did not need on this day, as she was simply overpowering the Lady Laker batting order.

Sydney Skeen and Maggie Killough led the attack for the Lady Maroons with two hits each. Bryanna Harris had two RBIs for the game.

With the win, Madisonville-North Hopkins improves to 10-6 for the season, this after starting the year at 0-4.
