A tough Saturday for the Hopkins County Central Lady Storm. The Lady Storm dropped three games during their appearance in the Ohio County Classic.
In the opener against Butler County, Hopkins County Central was limited to just four hits as the Lady Bears took the 10-0 win in five innings. Cadence Allen, Layla Sorrells, Julia Harris, and Ava McCord had one hit each for the Lady Storm.
Butler County scored three in the second, three in the third, and then sealed the win with four more in the top of the fifth.
Against Hickman County, the Lady Storm took an early 1-0 lead only to see Hickman score 7 runs in the bottom of the second on the way to a 9-4 win.
Both teams had their issues in the field with Hopkins County Central being charged with six errors and Hickman County five. The Lady Storm miscues allowed Hickman County to scored a total of 8 unearned runs and that turned out to be the difference in the game.
Pennie Williams led the Lady Storm, going 2-3 with an RBI. Julia Harris and Kylee Satterfield were each 1-2 with an RBI.
Hopkins County Central wrapped up its day taking on the host Ohio County Lady Eagles. The Lady Storm opened fast with a 5-run top of the first but could not hold on as Ohio County took a 13-7 win.
Ohio County answered with five runs in the bottom of the first and then put the game away with six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Pennie Williams was 2-4 for the game. Emily Ballard was 2-3 with an RBI. Addison Blanchard ended up 1-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
With the losses, Hopkins County Central drops to 2-15-1.
