Last spring, Steven Whitecotton gave a strong indication that he was among the up-and-coming tennis players in the 2nd Region. His play thus far in 2025 shows that the only member of the Heritage Christian Academy tennis team will again be among the players to be reckoned with come regional tournament time.
Whitecotton took on University Heights Academy’s #1 player Nick Fantini Monday afternoon at Ruff Park in a matchup of two of the region’s best singles players.
Whitecotton rolled through the opening set taking a 6-1 win.
Fantini battled back in the second and pushed Whitecotton til the end, but the young man from HCA was able to close it out in the end, taking a 7-5 win and winning the match two sets to none.
