
Hopkinsville’s Andrew Mayes was on his game Tuesday night. The Tiger pitcher hurled a one-hitter as the Tigers took a 4-0 win over Muhlenberg County.
Mayes went the distance for Hopkinsville, striking out six and walking four in picking up the win.
Hopkinsville got all the runs Mayes would need in the bottom of the second inning. Ryan Martin scored the first run of the inning on a Mustang error and then Joshua Embrey II drove in Chase Fort with a single to right.
The Tigers added a pair of runs in the fifth on an RBI single from Gavin Mitchell and a Muhlenberg County error to extend the lead out to 4-0.
Joshua Embrey II finished the game 2-3 with an RBI. Chase Fort was 2-3 and scored two runs. Five other Tiger batters had one hit for the game as Hopkinsville outhit Muhlenberg County 9 to 1.
Errors were costly for the Mustangs as the Tigers scored three unearned runs off of two Muhlenberg miscues.
With the win, Hopkinsville improves to 6-6 for the season.
