VanBeber Strikes Out 13 in Todd’s Win at Hopkins Central

Todd County Central senior Tommy VanBeber struck out 13 and surrendered just two base hits in an 11-2 win over Hopkins County Central Tuesday at Mortons Gap.

VanBeber (3-0) did not give up an earned run as the Rebels improved to 7-3 on the season.

Peyton Ortiz homered and went 2-for-2 at the plate with three runs batted in. VanBeber was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Conner Wheeler and Aidan Bobbett each doubled for Todd. Devin Schutt and Lane Thomas each recorded singles.

It was a 3-1 ballgame through three innings before a five-run fifth put the Rebels in control.

A three-run sixth made it 11-2.

For Hopkins Central, Neilan Bruce tripled and Gaige Brasher singled.

The Storm is now 2-11.

Todd plays at Heritage Christian Academy in Hopkinsville on Thursday.

Hopkins Central will be at home again on Monday against Union County.
