Butts Leads Trigg to Season Sweep of Rockets

Trigg County senior Aidon Butts struck out 12 over five shutout innings to help Trigg County to a 10-0 victory over visiting Crittenden County on Thursday, giving the Wildcats a season sweep of the Rockets.

Chase Hampton’s two-run triple got the Wildcats on the scoreboard in their first at-bat, and Jon Humphries added an RBI double for an early 4-0 advantage.

Butts helped himself with an inside the park solo home run in the second before Haydon Reynolds made it 6-0 with an RBI double.

Humphries’ second hit of the night brought in a run in the fourth, and the Wildcats finished things off in the bottom of the fifth on RBI singles by Bentley Reynolds and Haydon Reynolds.

Butts scattered three hits and walked one on the way to his second win of the season.  Butts had two hits along with Bentley Reynolds and James Garnett, Haydon Reynolds had two hits and three RBI, and Hampton and Humphries each drove in two runs.

Jaxton Duncan took the loss for the Rockets, allowing six runs, five earned, on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

Crittenden County slipped to 5-8 with its sixth loss in a row ahead of a trip to Caldwell County on Tuesday.

Trigg County won for the third time in four outings to improve to 6-5 with a matchup at Murray scheduled for Friday.
