Athletic teams across the area are not just exceptional on the court or on the field. Many of these outstanding young people involved in high school sports are also involved in many different ways in giving back to their school community and their community and are standing out in the classroom.

Those are the teams that are at the top of the list, or an ‘A-Team’ so to say. In this case, the Chick-fil-A ‘A-Team’. Teams that exhibit great core values like accountability, growth, respect to others, quality, and service.

Such is the case with the softball team at Muhlenberg County High School with their efforts this week.

The recent flooding hit many counties across Western Kentucky especially hard, but maybe no county harder than McLean County. With more than 50 percent of the land in the county at one point, school officials have called off school and school activities for an indefinite period of time.

The Lady Mustang softball program in turn saw a need and decided to do something to help out their neighbors just down the road.

At their home games this week, including the Mustang Stampede coming up Saturday, Lady Mustang players, coaches, and families have been collecting needed items or monetary donations that will go directly to help those in need in McLean County.

They have been working to collect food, personal products, and cleaning supplies to help those in need in the McLean County area.

Their commitment to helping others in need in a very difficult time is a perfect example of the kind of thing that makes the Lady Mustangs a great Chick-fil-A ‘A-Team.’
