
The Fort Campbell Lady Falcons are starting to get used to playing at home again. The Lady Falcons scored in every inning Thursday night, including 10 runs in the bottom of the second, as they rolled to a 20-10 8th District win over Heritage Christian Academy.
HCA took the early 2-0 lead in the top of the first on a single from Ava DeJager and a bases-loaded walk.
Fort Campbell led off the bottom of the inning with three straight singles that turned into four runs as the Lady Falcons led 4-2 after one.
Heritage came right back with seven runs in the top of the second to take a 9-4 lead. The highlight of the inning was a grand slam from Ava DeJager.
The game got away from the Lady Warriors in the bottom of the second inning as the first 8 batters reached safely for Fort Campbell. Avaley Moore provided a big jolt in the inning with a grand slam. By the time the inning was over, the Lady Falcons had scored 10 runs and taken a 14-9 lead.
Fort Campbell added a run in the third and three more in the bottom of the fourth to push the margin out to 18-9.
The Lady Warriors scored one in the top of the fifth on a bases-loaded walk. Fort Campbell then closed out the game with two runs in the bottom of the inning.
Avaley Moore led the way for Fort Campbell, going 1-4 with 6 RBIs and a run scored. Emma Kolmerton ended up 4-4 with 2 RBIs and three runs scored. Baylee Backes was 4-4 with 2 RBIs and a run scored. Hailey Herron went 3-4 with 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
For HCA, Ava DeJager was 2-3 with 5 RBIs and two runs scored. Kynlee Henderson finished 2-3 with a run scored.
For the night, Fort Campbell outhit the Lady Warriors 19 to 7.
