Lady Wildcats Ease Past Crittenden for Fifth Straight Win

Trigg County made it five wins on the bounce on Thursday with a 5-1 decision over hosts Crittenden County.  The Lady Wildcats ran their district mark to 3-1 with their second victory over the Lady Rockets.

After the Lady Wildcats gave her a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on Kady Fuller’s RBI single, Tember Oliver held Crittenden to only two hits over seven innings with a walk and four strikeouts to earn her 12th victory.

Elliot Evans settled down after the first frame and limited the Lady Wildcats to only two baserunners over the next three innings, but the Trigg County bats came alive in the fifth.  After a single by EmmaLee Futrell, Veyda Grinols smacked a two-run home run to double the advantage.

The Lady Rockets picked up their only run on Abigail Champion’s RBI single in the bottom of the fifth before Trigg County restored the four-run cushion in the sixth.

Grinols led the way with three hits, followed by Fuller and Futrell with two each.  Lily Eagleson and Jayden Visingardi each drove in a run for the Lady Wildcats.

Evans took the loss for Crittenden, surrendering five earned runs on seven hits with a pair of walks and two strikeouts.  The Lady Rockets slipped to 5-6 with their third straight defeat.

Trigg County will look to extend its winning streak at Christian County on Friday.
